VNRE - VinaCapital Hoi An Resort Ltd broke ground for construction of a US$16 million hotel resort in the ancient town of Hoi An, Quang Nam Province, yesterday.
The Sofitel Hoi An Resort will be built on 8.6ha in Dien Duong Commune, Dien Ban District, and will be managed by the Accor Group.
The resort will have 89 villas and 84 hotel rooms, and more than 300 employees trained for five-star facilities.
During the ground-breaking ceremony, VinaCapital, the main partner in the Sofitel Hoi An Resort project, said it would be the best resort in Quang Nam Province when it opens in late 2009.
Don Lam, general director of the VinaCapital group, said he expected the central region’s tourism industry to develop rapidly in the next decades.
He said VinaCapital planned to invest in other large projects to contribute to the development of the central region.
Pham Phu Truong, representative of Sai Thanh Co Ltd, a partner in the VinaCapital Hoi An Resort Ltd, and deputy chairman of the company’s management board, said: "We are happy to co-operate with VinaCapital in this project, which can help pave the way for the development of Quang Nam Province."
