VNRE - Vietnam’s central city of Danang is seeking US$6 billion to build four metro routes, Nguyen Ba Thanh chairman of the municipal People’s Council said on its website.

Danang selected the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to provide feasible study for the project, Thanh noted, adding that four metro routes will have a total length of 90 kilometers.

Among these routes, Danang will prioritize construction of Trung Vuong theatre-Dien Bien Phu-Hue intersection route whose construction is slated to start in the first quarter of next year, he highlighted.

JICA has funded for many projects in Vietnam, including East-West Corridor and Water Environment Improvement projects in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the Consultative Group Meeting in Hanoi on last Dec, Japan pledged to provide US$1.64 billion in ODA for Vietnam this year, topping the bilateral donors.
