VNRE - Trung Nam Joint Stock Co. under the HCMC-based Trung Nam Group will this week start work on a 400-hectare ecological urban area called Golden Hills in the central city of Danang, which can be compared to the new town Phu My Hung south of HCMC.
Trung Nam will this Saturday break ground for the complex in Lien Chieu District in Danang, which will comprise of six main sections including apartments, eco-villas, a golf course, a marina, and other service facilities, said Nguyen Hai Yen, marketing manager of the group.
She said the total investment for the project would amount to nearly US$1.7 billion. The sprawling complex is designed by U.S.-based Skidmore, Owings and Merril LLP (SOM), which is also the designer for Saigon South urban area in HCMC. Singapore’s Cicada will also join the project as the landscape designer.
Construction of the Golden Hills urban area along the Cu De River will be completed and operational by 2014, according to the group. The marketing manager did not say if Trung Nam would build the whole complex on its own, or would invite secondary investors to join its development efforts.
On the same day, Trung Nam will also start work on an extended section of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street leading to the urban complex. The road section project costs some VND300 billion, or around US$14.5 million, the company said in a statement.
Trung Nam Group was established in 2004 operating in some business fields such as urban areas, hydropower plants and wind power projects.
At the moment, Trung Nam is developing several hydropower projects such as Dong Nai 2 with a capacity of 75MW, and Krong No 2 and Krong No 3 with 46MW each in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong. The group is also constructing another 20-hectare cultural and urban park worth some US$150 million near Xuan Huong Lake in the resort city of Dalat.
