VNRE - The Thu Thiem tunnel starting from beneath Calmette bridge, cross Saigon river into Thu Thiem, links with the beginning of road T13 in the urban plan of Thu Thiem. The tunnel, about 1,970 meters long, include an underground tunnel of about 380m, a dug tunnel of about 770m and two access roads to both ends of the tunnel, about 820m.
This is second tunnel in Vietnam after the 6280m-long Hai Van Tunnel opened in 2005 which lies on highway 1 between the two cities of Danang and Hue in Central Vietnam.
Thu Thiem Tunnel will be officially open to traffic from 11/20/2011.
