VNRE - The Can Gio Tourist City Corporation has launched the Can Gio urban and sea tourism project Saigon Sunbay at Long Hoa, Can Gio province in Vietnam.
The project is the biggest reclamation project in Vietnam and will use advanced land fill technology utilising sand from Can Gio sea.
Can Gio tourist city is located only 50km South-East from the centre of Ho Chi Minh City.
The project will cover 600 hectares of encroaching land, and will include 200ha of the artificial sea and 400ha of the construction land for tourism service and luxury apartments.
Saigon SunBay as an Ecological city – a destination for tourist – the project has been divided into four different themes which cater to different tastes and lifestyles. These include HearBay, LifeBay, EcoBay and BlueBay respectively for approximately 33, 000 residents and tourists.
The site is surrounded by mangrove forest belonging to Can Gio Biosphere Reserve recognized as the first conservation area in Vietnam by UNESCO in the year 2000. The landscape has been designed closely to the nature and optimal used the specific features of mangrove forest ecosystem anf natural local materials in construction.
The anticipated cost of the project is 8.470 billion VND ($US526 million). Completion is expected in 2016.“
