Land was handed over on Wednesday for the Tan Cang-Hiep Phuoc General Terminal project in Hiep Phuoc Commune in HCMC’s Nha Be District.

The land handover ceremony was held by Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park and Tan Cang-Hiep Phuoc Port Joint Stock Company (THP), a subsidiary of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP).

THP was established on April 6, 2010, with main business scope of operating the general terminal and logistics services.

THP is developing Tan Cang-Hiep Phuoc general terminal on 15.4 hectares at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park. The terminal will have a berth on the Soai Rap River 420 meters long, able to accommodate vessels of up to 30,000 DWT.

Work on the terminal will start in September and it will be up and running by the second quarter of next year. At present, THP has four midstream handling facilities which can receive 30,000 DWT vessels.

THP will also build two Container Freight Station warehouses with 18,000 square meters for each and develop a 350-meter berth for barges on the Dong Dien River.

SNP, a container operator in Vietnam, aims at developing a logistic network in receipt and delivery and transportation of cargoes.

Tan Cang-Hiep Phuoc Terminal is expected to handle barges and vessels as well as cargo transport for the Mekong Delta.
