VNRE - On the 8th of January 2014 British University Vietnam (BUV) and Vihajico Corporation (Ecopark’s Developer) signed an amendment on the location of BUV’s campus in Ecopark. At this ceremony BUV has announced the concept design of its future state-of-the-art campus to be constructed on a 6.5 hectare area with a total investment valued at USD 60 million and constructed in 3 stages. The site is relocated in the second phase of Ecopark’s major development and is located next to Bac Hung Hai Bridge and the national highway linking Hanoi to HÆ°ng Yen province.
The first stage of the project, valued at USD 12 million includes lecture theatres, learning rooms, library, computer laboratories, offices, an open collaborative-learning area for students and sport facilities on site. The Ecopark campus of British University Vietnam will become the first UK standard university in Vietnam with a capacity of 7000 students. The construction will be commencing in May 2014 and the university will welcome its first cohort of students at this campus by the third quarter of 2016.
Mr. Lim Tou Boon, General Director, spoke at the ceremony: “We are impressed by the progress of development at Ecopark, especially the efforts in creating a leading educational services hub for the citizens of the township, Hanoi and Vietnam. The international standard facility of British University Vietnam in Ecopark will definitely enable more Vietnamese students to gain access to world class, prestigious higher education in their home country and therefore enable them to contribute not just to their personal success but also that of their families and the nation at large.”
Mr Lim added “Today’s graduates need an education that empowers them with the learning skills, life skills and leadership skills to make them highly sought after by top employers. BUV is committed to ensuring that all students graduate not just with mastery of their subject areas but also with the knowledge and skills to make them the most desired graduates in Vietnam.”
Mr. Dao Ngoc Thanh, Vihajico’s General Director said on this occasion: “We had set a development strategy for Ecopark, which focuses on the high-quality living environment and facilities for our community. With the cooperation between Ecopark and prestigious education institutions such as British University Vietnam, Medical University of Waseda (Japan) and Doan Thi Diem School, we expect that world class education will become more accessible to Vietnamese young people.”
